In short: You set the price of your art, which sits on top of the garment price and steps up with every edition sold. On every tee, HollaJack keeps a flat $18.00 and everything above it is split 50/50 between you and HollaJack. With the default $2.00 art price, a Unisex tee sells for $23.00 at N° 001 and you earn $2.50 on it; the amount grows with every edition after that.
How much does an artist earn per t-shirt on HollaJack?
The formula has three parts, and all three are public.
- The tee price is the garment price plus your art price. A Unisex tee garment is $21.00.
- Your art price starts where you set it ($2.00 by default) and steps up by a set amount with every edition sold ($0.10 by default).
- The split. From each tee, HollaJack keeps a flat $18.00. Everything above that is split evenly: half to you, half to HollaJack.
Written out: your earnings per tee = (tee price minus $18.00) divided by two.
Worked example with the defaults
A Unisex tee, the default art price and the default step. Every row is arithmetic from the formula above, not a forecast of how many will sell.
| Edition | Tee price | Artist earns on that tee | Artist total so far |
|---|---|---|---|
| N° 001 | $23.00 | $2.50 | $2.50 |
| N° 010 | $23.90 | $2.95 | $27.25 |
| N° 025 | $25.40 | $3.70 | $77.50 |
| N° 050 | $27.90 | $4.95 | $186.25 |
| N° 100 | $32.90 | $7.45 | $497.50 |
| N° 250 | $47.90 | $14.95 | $2,181.25 |
Try your own numbers
Change the garment, your starting art price, the step per edition and the number of editions sold.
What changes how much you earn?
- Your starting art price. Every dollar you add to the art price adds fifty cents to your earnings on every tee. A higher start also means a higher price for your earliest collectors, so it is a judgment call. How to set a price you won’t regret.
- The step per edition. Each sale raises the price of the next one, and half of every step is yours. Over a long run the steps add up to more than the starting price.
- The garment. A Women’s tee garment costs more than a Unisex one, so the same art price produces a higher tee price and a larger amount above the base.
- How far the run goes. Because the price climbs, later editions pay you more than early ones. Why a rising price is an honest demand signal.
Where do I see what I earned?
Every order appears in your artist dashboard with what you earned on it. There is nothing to reconcile at the end of the month: the formula on this page is the formula the payout code uses.
What about canvas prints?
The formula above is for tees. Canvas sales are paid under a separate rule, and each one shows in your dashboard with the exact amount you earned.
How does this compare with other places to sell?
Large marketplaces bring traffic but set most of the terms. Artist-shop platforms let you set prices but rarely number your work. HollaJack compared with Redbubble, TeePublic and Threadless.
Frequently asked questions
Is the $18.00 taken from my art price?
It is taken from the tee price as a whole, which is the garment plus your art. Everything above it is split evenly between you and HollaJack.
Do I pay anything if a piece does not sell?
No. There is no inventory and no upfront cost. Pieces are made to order after they sell.
Do later editions pay more?
Yes. Each edition raises the price by the step, and half of every step comes to you, so N° 100 pays more than N° 001.
Is this a promise of how much I will make?
No. The formula is exact, but how many pieces sell depends on your work and your audience. The tables show arithmetic, not predictions.
