Birdie Solano grew up on a family ranch outside Santa Fe and started Solano Mesa in 2019 to paint the high desert exactly as it looks at golden hour — terracotta mesas, turquoise sky, long coyote shadows. Nothing is color-graded to be more saturated than it actually is out there.

Birdie sources her pigments from local clay and mineral suppliers when she can, and the shop’s color story stays consistent because of it.
